Basically, sin is doing anything that displeases God. That could be doing something that he does not want you to do, or it could also be not doing something that he does want you to do.

The Bible mentions many things that God considers to be sin, in both of these catagories. Perhaps the best know of these are the "Ten Commandments". This is a simple list of "do's" and "dont's". Actually, this list occurs in three palces in the Bible: Exodus 20:2–17, Deuteronomy 5:6–21, and Exodus 34:11–26.
